Meeting was held with the Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum

On March 20, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Mohamed Hamel.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current situation on global energy markets, as well as interaction between organizations and specialized structures. The presence of vast potential for developing effective partnership in the gas sector was emphasized.

An interested exchange of views took place on the issues of Turkmenistan’s accession to the GECF.

The parties expressed confidence that the results of the International Conference “International Year of Peace and Trust: the Role of Interregional Economic Cooperation in Ensuring Sustainable Development” will give a great impetus to further expansion of cooperation in the energy sector.

The Turkmen side proposed to establish work on holding relevant trainings and seminars with the participation of GECF experts.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan invited representatives of the GECF to actively participate in events organized by Turkmenistan within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust.

The interlocutors expressed hope for further strengthening of ties between Turkmenistan and the GECF.
