NEW PREMISES OF OSCE CENTER OPENED IN ASHGABAT

On June 1 this year, new premises of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Center was opened in Ashgabat.

The opening ceremony was attended by the OSCE Secretary General, the head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Ashgabat city administration, diplomatic missions accredited in our country, and representatives of the mass media.

The opening of a new office of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, timed to coincide with the visit of a delegation led by the OSCE Secretary General to Turkmenistan, was a confirmation of the desire of the OSCE and Turkmenistan to further strengthen long-term relations. This topic was emphasized in the speeches of the OSCE Secretary General and leading representatives from the Turkmen side.

The commitment of Turkmenistan to the intensification of international relations on the most important issues of modern time, including ensuring global peace, strengthening the foundations of stability and security, as well as achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, was also noted.

In particular, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan V.Hajiyev stressed that the new building of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat marks a significant investment in bilateral partnership and the promotion of common values and goals, designed to provide favorable conditions for the development and effective implementation of a wide range of OSCE programs, projects and activities.

Secretary General Helga Schmidt noted that with the acquisition of these premises, the OSCE Center will be better able to carry out its functions and tasks in accordance with its mandate.

Head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat John McGregor, emphasizing that the provision of a new building indicates the goodwill of the host country and its commitment to cooperation with the OSCE, expressed gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan in this regard.

The new premises were provided to the OSCE Center in Ashgabat by the Government of Turkmenistan free of charge.
