Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan met with representatives of the company “Petronas”

On May 14, 2025, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with representatives of the Petronas company – CEO Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik, Executive Vice President Mohd Jukris Abdul Wahab, Vice President for International Extractive Assets Mohd Redhani Abdul Rahman.

Expressing gratitude for the time devoted to the meeting, the guests emphasized the constructive nature of the friendly dialogue between Malaysia and Turkmenistan, as well as the personal contribution of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to its strengthening.

Having warmly welcomed the representatives of the Petronas company, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan noted with satisfaction that during the bilateral relations, which last more than 30 years, a solid practice of cooperation and a legal base have been developed between Turkmenistan and Malaysia. In this regard, the National Leader of the Turkmen people conveyed the gratitude of the President of Turkmenistan for the work carried out by the company.

Speaking about the mutual visits and high-level meetings that are being organized, Hero-Arkadag noted that the Prime Minister of Malaysia visited our country several times, and that the President of Turkmenistan also made state and official visits to Malaysia.

The official visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Malaysia in December last year was held at a very high level. As a result, 14 bilateral documents were signed, which became another confirmation of the special role of mutual understanding and constructive partnership between government agencies and business circles of Turkmenistan and Malaysia, the National Leader of the Turkmen people said.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan emphasized that the consistent expansion of cooperation with Petronas not only covers projects that are already being implemented, but also provides for large projects in the industrial sector, which is a new area of ​​interaction within the framework of the socio-economic development programs of Turkmenistan.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people highly appreciated the company’s contribution to the training of Turkmen personnel, improving the qualifications of young specialists and teachers of the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshygeldi Kakayev through the organization of specialized courses. Focusing on cooperation in the field of education, Hero-Arkadag noted that more than 200 Turkmen students studied at the Petronas Technological University, and in this regard proposed to intensify work on organizing short- and long-term training courses.

Expressing firm confidence in further cooperation with Petronas based on the principles of mutual respect, openness and unity of goals, Hero-Arkadag emphasized that the company will be provided with all possible assistance in implementing joint projects.

At the end of the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Hero-Arkadag, noting that our country highly appreciates cooperation with Malaysia, expressed his best wishes to the representatives of the Petronas company.
