Turkmenistan delegation visits the Republic of Iraq

On October 20–21, 2025, a delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmed Gurbanov, visited Baghdad, Republic of Iraq.

During the visit, political consultations were held between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries. Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Ahmed Gurbanov represented Turkmenistan, and Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Iraq Mohammed Bahr Al-Ulum represented Iraq.

The parties exchanged views on the development of political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation, as well as key areas of the bilateral agenda.

The diplomats emphasized the importance of high-level contacts, which provide impetus for the development of bilateral cooperation. In this context, the parties discussed issues related to the International Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, scheduled for December in Ashgabat.

The talks also addressed issues related to the legal framework for cooperation and its further expansion.

The importance of establishing parliamentary friendship groups and strengthening interparliamentary ties, as well as active interaction within international organizations, particularly the United Nations, was noted.

The parties reaffirmed that the friendly and cooperative relations between Turkmenistan and Iraq are based on the principles of mutual respect, trust, and equality.

During the visit of the Turkmen delegation to the Republic of Iraq, Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmed Gurbanov met with the President of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, Abdul Razzaq Al-Zuhairi.

During the meeting, the development of trade and economic relations was discussed, and the promising prospects for their expansion were noted. In this context, the parties emphasized the importance of establishing contacts between the business communities of the two countries, as well as the active participation of delegations from Turkmenistan and Iraq in international economic forums, exhibitions, and business meetings held in both countries.
