The President of Turkmenistan met with the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea

On September 15, 2026, as part of his state visit to the Republic of Korea, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Cho Jeong-sik.

Warmly welcoming the distinguished Turkmen guest, Cho Jeong-sik emphasized the significance of the current state visit by the Head of Turkmenistan, noting that its outcomes will open a new page in the history of inter-parliamentary ties and interstate relations.

Expressing satisfaction for meeting with the Chairman of the National Assembly of Korea, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed words of greeting from the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag.

Addressing in return best wishes to the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, the head of the National Assembly emphasized that it was precisely during the leadership of the National Leader of the Turkmen people that the interstate dialogue reached a new level.

It was highlighted that inter-parliamentary ties are among the main pillars of the multi-faceted Turkmen-Korean cooperation. In this context, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of contacts at the parliamentary level, which serve as an essential mechanism for strengthening mutual trust and understanding between the countries and peoples.

Special emphasis was placed on the activities of the Turkmen-Korean Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group.

As the meeting continued, the sides discussed the significance of the initiative launched in 2023 by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Hero-Arkadag to establish a new format for inter-parliamentary cooperation. In this context, it was emphasized that the first Turkmen-Korean consultative meeting of representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea took place in September of that year, followed by the second meeting in October 2024.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Chairman of the National Assembly Cho Jeong-sik exchanged best wishes, expressing confidence that the traditionally friendly Turkmen-Korean relations will continue to expand across a wide range of areas for the well-being of two countries and their peoples.

Then, the President of Turkmenistan and the head of the Parliament of the Republic of Korea took a photo together with the members of the delegation of Turkmenistan and the representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.
