Telephone conversation between the President of Turkmenistan and the President of the Russian Federation

On September 22, 2026, a telephone conversation took place between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The Russian leader warmly congratulated the Head of Turkmenistan on his birthday, wishing him good health, well-being, and continued great success in his responsible state activities. Emphasizing also the significant contribution of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to strengthening interstate relations, President Vladimir Putin conveyed his heartfelt greetings to the Hero-Arkadag.

Expressing gratitude for the congratulations, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that he perceives the warm wishes of the President of the Russian Federation as a testament to sincere respect and friendship. Taking this opportunity, the Head of State also congratulated the leader of the friendly country on the successful holding of the elections to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

Noting the high level of organization of the voting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished the new composition of the Russian parliament fruitful work for the benefit of the state and its citizens. The Head of State also expressed confidence that cooperation between the parliaments of Turkmenistan and Russia will continue to successfully develop and strengthen.

In this regard, taking the opportunity, the Head of Turkmenistan thanked President Vladimir Putin for his personal contribution to strengthening the traditionally friendly and trusting interstate dialogue. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that bilateral interaction will continue to foster the deepening of multifaceted Turkmen-Russian cooperation for the benefit of our peoples.

Currently, interstate cooperation is developing successfully both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of the UN, CIS, SCO, and other international and regional organizations.

Noting that Turkmenistan holds the chairmanship of the CIS this year and that a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth, as well as the Caspian Environmental Summit, are scheduled to be held in the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone on October 9, 2026, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the participation of the President of the Russian Federation in these events would lend a special significance to the high-level forums.

President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed his participation in both the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State and the Caspian Environmental Summit, which will take place under the chairmanship of Turkmenistan.

Continuing the conversation, the Head of State emphasized that trade and economic partnership occupies a special place on the agenda of bilateral relations and confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation with the Russian Federation across all areas of mutual interest.

It was also noted that interparliamentary contacts and interaction with the regions of the Russian Federation are actively carried out, serving as an important component of the Turkmen-Russian dialogue.

Great importance is attached to expanding humanitarian cooperation, which covers fields such as education, science, healthcare, and culture. The Head of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that increasing interaction in these areas serves as an essential foundation for strengthening ties between the peoples of the two countries.

In this regard, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan intends to continue consistently developing comprehensive cooperation with the Russian Federation on a long-term basis.
