Telephone Conversation between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held

On 22 September 2026, a telephone conversation took place between President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The Uzbek leader congratulated the Head of State on his birthday and sincerely wished him strong health, happiness and great success in his extensive efforts aimed at the well-being and prosperity of the Turkmen people.

Taking the opportunity, the President of the friendly country asked President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to convey his warm greetings to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag.

Expressing gratitude for the sincere congratulations and kind wishes, the Head of State emphasized that Turkmenistan highly values its relations with brotherly Uzbekistan and attaches great importance to developing comprehensive cooperation with its close neighbour and reliable partner.

With satisfaction, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation, based on good-neighbourliness, friendship and mutual support, is currently developing actively and consistently, demonstrating a high level of trust and mutual understanding. In this regard, he expressed his gratitude to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his personal contribution to the development of comprehensive strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

As was emphasized, the two countries successfully cooperate not only on a bilateral basis, but also within the framework of international organizations.

Regular high-level contacts directly contribute to the further development of bilateral cooperation.

Referring to a number of important events scheduled to take place in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza” in the first ten days of October this year, including the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan on 8 October, as well as the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States scheduled for 9 October, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized that the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in these high-level international forums would add particular significance to them.

Noting the importance of the upcoming summits in strengthening regional cooperation, the President of Uzbekistan once again confirmed his participation in these events.

As was emphasized during the telephone conversation, trade and economic relations hold a special place in cooperation between the two countries. Bilateral trade turnover continues to increase steadily, while cooperation in the fuel and energy, transport and logistics, and agricultural sectors is actively expanding.

At the same time, the dynamic development of inter-parliamentary ties and the strengthening of partnership in the scientific and educational spheres were noted.

At the conclusion of the telephone conversation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reaffirmed their mutual readiness to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and wished each other strong health and success in their responsible state activities, and the fraternal peoples of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan peace, well-being and prosperity.
