Political Consultations Held Between the Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of the Philippines in Ashgabat

On 15 October 2026, political consultations were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines.

The Turkmen delegation was headed by Ahmet Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, while the Philippine delegation was headed by Leo M. Herrera-Lim, Undersecretary for Political Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines.

During the consultations, the sides discussed key issues on the bilateral agenda, paying particular attention to the further development of political and diplomatic dialogue, the expansion of trade and economic cooperation, and the strengthening of cultural and humanitarian ties. The parties also considered cooperation within international organizations, particularly the United Nations.

The diplomats also exchanged views on pressing regional and international issues, reaffirming their interest in continuing constructive dialogue and maintaining regular contacts between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

Particular attention was paid to prospects for strengthening the legal and treaty framework of bilateral cooperation, as well as developing ties in energy, maritime transport, tourism and other areas of mutual interest.

In the social sphere, the sides emphasized the importance of developing cooperation in education and expanding academic contacts and exchanges, which contribute to strengthening mutual understanding and friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries.

Following the consultations, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of the Philippines on the basis of mutual respect and due consideration of the interests of both parties.
