TASHKENT HOSTED 43RD SESSION OF THE OIC COUNCIL OF FOREIGN MINISTERS

On October 18, 2016 in Tashkent has started 43rd Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, under the motto "Education and enlightenment - the path to peace and creation".

The event was attended by delegates from more than 50 member countries, as well as representatives of observer countries and international organizations. The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs attended the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC.

At the beginning of the event the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah made a presentation. In his speech, he presented a report on the work done during the presidency of the State of Kuwait in the Organization and informed the participants about the transition of the chairmanship of the OIC to Uzbekistan.

Further, during the opening ceremony of the 43rd meeting of the OIC Foreign Ministers Council Acting President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev made a speech. In his speech, he proposed the establishment of the International Islamic Research Center under the auspices of the OIC in Samarkand and urged members of the OIC member countries to protect the true Islamic values and Muslim culture.

Organization of Islamic Cooperation Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani stressed that the first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov had carried out great work to engage Uzbekistan deserved place among developed countries in the world, made a great contribution to the development of the Islamic religion. 

During the session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Tashkent main outcome of the 43rd session should be the Tashkent Declaration, in which the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian issues will be reflected, as well as the priorities of the forthcoming presidency of Uzbekistan in the organization.
