MEETING BETWEEN THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Today, on June 29, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, who arrived in our country to participate in the VI Summit of the Heads of the Caspian States.

Warmly greeting each other, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss priority issues of interstate relations based on the principles of good neighborliness and mutual understanding, as well as mutual interest in further strengthening fruitful cooperation.

Stating the productive nature of the traditionally friendly Turkmen-Russian dialogue, Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin exchanged views on key aspects of the bilateral strategic partnership, which has ample opportunities for building fruitful contacts across their entire spectrum.

As noted, today our countries are demonstrating a balanced approach to defining new formats of interaction built on an equal, long-term basis, taking into account the achievements over the past 30 years and the priority tasks of state development. This is confirmed by the results of the recent official visit of the head of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation.

Continuing the topic, the interlocutors stressed that the effective implementation of the existing potential and the implementation of the agreements reached should be facilitated by the established productive contacts at the interstate, intergovernmental levels, as well as through business structures.

Trade and economic sphere, fuel and energy complex, communications and telecommunications, construction and building materials industry, water management and agro-industrial complex, tourism, etc. were named among the priority areas.
