On 16 February, 2026, an official ceremony for the presentation of credentials was held at the headquarters of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah. Mr. Muhammetgeldi Ayazov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, officially assumed his duties as the country’s Permanent Representative to this respected international organization.

Receiving the credentials, OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha noted that the policy of permanent neutrality pursued by Turkmenistan serves today as an effective instrument for strengthening peace and trust not only in the region but across the entire area of the Organization.

As the Permanent Representative noted, Turkmenistan intends to expand its contribution to the activities of the OIC, especially in the fields of culture, education, and economic cooperation.

The OIC highly values Turkmenistan’s experience in preventive diplomacy, which is particularly relevant in the context of the current international situation.

The Secretary General expressed confidence that the work of the Permanent Representative will give new impetus to the dialogue between the Turkmenistan and Organization, which for many years has remained a reliable and active participant in the Islamic community.
