Meeting with the appointed Secretary General of the Secretariat of the “Central Asia-China” Format

On April 14, 2025, a meeting was held in Ashgabat between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmed Gurbanov and the appointed Secretary General of the Secretariat of the “Central Asia – China” Format Sun Weidong.

At the beginning of the conversation, A.Gurbanov congratulated the guest on his appointment to a responsible position and wished him success in his new post.

During the meeting, the diplomats considered issues of successfully developing bilateral partnership, which has a comprehensive strategic and long-term feature, noting the effective partnership in the trade-economic sphere, analyzed the progress of joint activities in the field of energy, transport-communication connectivity and in cultural-humanitarian area.

It was noted that the high level of trust and friendship between the heads of two states creates favorable conditions for further development of interstate relations.

The diplomats also noted the effectiveness of the multilateral dialogue between Turkmenistan and China within the framework of international and regional structures. They highlighted the efficiency of the “Central Asia – China” Format. In this context, the parties discussed preparations to the second Summit of Heads of State of the “Central Asia–China” Format, scheduled to be held in Astana in 2025.
