The President of Turkmenistan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation

On June 25, 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, who arrived in our country on an official visit.

Having expressed sincere gratitude for the time devoted, the guest conveyed to the Head of state, as well as the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, cordial greetings and best wishes from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, emphasizing Russia’s continued commitment to the traditionally friendly dialogue and fruitful cooperation with Turkmenistan.

The Russian Foreign Minister also expressed gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on behalf of the Russian side for his personal participation in the celebrations held in Moscow in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Welcoming the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that his visit to our country and the planned negotiations will serve the further development and strengthening of Turkmen-Russian relations. Having conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to President Vladimir Putin, the Head of state noted that the Russian Federation is a strategic partner of Turkmenistan.

During the interested exchange of opinions, the current state and prospects of partnership were considered. Political dialogue is developing dynamically, including multifaceted contacts between ministries and departments of the two countries. Interparliamentary cooperation is being implemented, and consultations between foreign policy departments are actively held.

As noted, Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation constructively interact both bilaterally and multilaterally. This is evidenced by the mutual support for international initiatives and proposals put forward within the framework of authoritative organizations of global and regional scale, such as the UN, CIS and others.

In this regard, the President of Turkmenistan expressed sincere gratitude to the Russian Federation for its continued support of Turkmenistan's neutral status. It was also noted that on December 12 this year, Ashgabat will host the Forum of the International Year of Peace and Trust, marking the 30th anniversary of our country’s permanent neutrality. In this regard, the head of state noted that the participation of the Russian side in this Forum at the highest level will make a valuable contribution to its work.

There is enormous potential in the trade and economic sphere, which provides new opportunities for building up mutually beneficial partnership. At the same time, the great role and importance of the effective work of the joint Intergovernmental Commission, designed to promote the intensification of the Turkmen-Russian foreign economic dialogue, were noted. In this context, the issue of determining the dates of its next meeting was raised.

Continuing with the topic of economic cooperation, the importance of the participation of the National Leader of the Turkmen people in the XVI International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2025” was noted. During his visit to Kazan in May of this year, Hero-Arkadag also had a meaningful telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation.

As noted, in the field of transport and logistics there is impressive potential for the implementation of projects to form international transport and transit corridors.

The humanitarian sphere was named as an equally important area of ​​interaction. Here, cooperation in the areas of education, science and culture, as well as healthcare, occupies a special place.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov exchanged best wishes for each other, expressing confidence in the further progressive development of friendly Turkmen-Russian relations, filling them with new content.

On the same day, as part of the visit program, the guest visited the «Halk hakydasy» Memorial Complex, where he took part in the flower-laying ceremony at the «Baky şöhrat» monument.
