Formal Conference marking the Conferral of the Title of “Honorary Doctor of Political Science” of Sungkyunkwan University upon the President of Turkmenistan

On 18 September 2026, a formal conference dedicated to the conferral of the title of “Honorary Doctor of Political Science” of Sungkyunkwan University of the Republic of Korea upon the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The event was attended by heads and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, rectors and professors of higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan, scholars, diplomats, representatives of the mass media, and students.

The conference was opened by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov.

The head of the foreign policy agency emphasized that the conferral of the title of “Honorary Doctor of Political Science” of Sungkyunkwan University serves as recognition of the outstanding merits of the President of Turkmenistan, his great personal contribution to the development of the country, its political system, economy and social sphere, as well as to enhancing the role and standing of Turkmenistan on the international arena.

It was noted that Sungkyunkwan University is one of the oldest educational institutions in the world and enjoys well-deserved authority and respect within the international academic and educational community.

Speakers at the conference unanimously highlighted the significant contribution of the Head of State to the enhancement of international cooperation, the deepening of mutual understanding, and the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties with countries around the world.

The significance of this event was also emphasized in terms of further deepening the partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea in such important areas as science, education, digitalization, and the training of highly qualified specialists.

A thematic exhibition was also held as part of the formal conference, showcasing the achievements of Turkmenistan in the scientific and educational sphere and the development of friendly international relations.

At the conclusion of the event, the participants adopted the Address to the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, expressing their gratitude for the ongoing efforts to strengthen the international standing of the country, develop science and education, and expand fruitful cooperation with foreign partners.
